Thirty-three years ago, the Local Canadian Home Builders Association and Thompson Rivers University (then College of the Cariboo) School of Trades and Technology decided, after some discussion about the lack of real “on site” experience of students graduating from the University Trades Programs, to partner to build a Training House. The students in residential foundations, electrical and plumbing trades would get hands on training at the construction site and CHBA members would help to finish the home.

Homebuilders and residential industry subtrades and professionals, dusted off their fanciest shoes and dressed to impress for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association Central Interior (CHBA CI) 17th Annual Keystone Awards Gala, on February 11 at the Thompson Rivers University Grand Hall.
With 27 awards being handed out from various categories recognizing excellence in home design, build, renovations and more. Seven judges were enlisted to decide the outcome of the winners, by evaluating each project anonymously based on photos and a marketing statement. The numbers were compiled and tallied in secrecy by a BDO adjudicator.

The Canadian Home Builders Association Central Interior announced the winners of the 15th Annual Keystone Awards Gala on Saturday February 1, 2020 at the TRU Grand Hall. The sold-out event recognized and honoured the outstanding achievements made by those within the Central Interior Region of British Columbia home building industry over the past year and celebrated all who went above and beyond in upholding the highest level of construction industry excellence.
The Canadian Home Builders Association Central Interior held their Annual General Meeting at the Colombo Lodge last night where 2019-2020 Board of Directors were announced.
The evening continued with a Presidential Review of the past year and a celebration of CHBA CI’s 30-year partnership with Thompson Rivers University Trades and Technology and the Training House program where a showcase of each home constructed was revealed.
The annual CHBA CI Golf Tournament was held on Friday June 21 and was another huge success. This sold-out (144 player), networking-based event took place at Eagle Point Golf Course amidst a fun-filled “Where’s Waldo” theme where participant’s and team’s alike sported Waldo and character costumes. The afternoon included a variety of pre tee-off challenges that included chipping into upside down umbrella’s to transporting team members in wheelbarrow’s around an obstacle course, then finishing with a delicious dinner inside the clubhouse.
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association Central Interior branch held their annual Awards of Excellence gala last May 15 at the Colombo Lodge. Sponsored in part by FortisBC, the gala celebrated long-time association members and those who go above and beyond to contribute back to residential building industry.

The Canadian Home Builders’ Association Central Interior announced the winners of the 2019 Keystone Awards of Housing Excellence. The black tie gala event was held at the TRU Grand Hall on Saturday February 2nd where 300 guests gathered to honour the best in the industry.
